Here's the first few strips up from the sheer.  The first 3 strips are redwood (even the light one, believe it or not).  The rest are western red cedar.  Although they aren't very visible, you can see the effect of the cheater strips at the stem; they gradually ease the curve of the strips from very pronounced at the sheer to barely detectable at the last strip.
