When
I was assembling the feature sheer strip, unfortunately I chose a strip that had a shallow
spot (from a slip-up when cutting the strip). Rather than try to fair the
surrounding area down to the same thickness, I decided to cut out the too-thin section
replace it. This turned out to be pretty easy, and the resulting seams are barely
noticeable.I aligned the replacement strip and cut through both layers with a pullsaw. Before cutting the second end, I shifted the replacement strip slightly to account for the saw kerf. |
I then
removed the offending section by paring it out with a chisel, and did the final fitting of
the replacement strip. |
After
sanding, the joints were hard to spot. The arrow points to one of the joints. |
