Knowing that this
would not be the lightest paddle, I lightened it a bit by drilling some holes in the shaft
in locations that would be covered by the next set of laminations (and still covered when
the laminations were sanded-down to their final shape). I won't find out for awhile
if I went overboard on the holes. If it turns out I did, then I'll end-up with two
Greenland canoe paddles.
